?  2.10 Flight Mechanic

A Flight Mechanic is a Sky King mechanic who has been assigned to travel with the

aircraft to perform the scheduled inspections required and non-scheduled maintenance.

?  Requirements/Qualifications

  1. Hold a current airman certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
  2. Possess a working knowledge of Sky King Manual and aircraft maintenance

manuals.

  1. Have completed Sky King Indoctrination training.
  2. Have at least three years experience performing maintenance on large aircraft.
  3. Have completed a familiarization training course on the type of aircraft operated by

Sky King.

  1. Should have airworthiness release authority.
  2. Should have completed Fuel Training.
  3. Shall receive Sky King RII Authorization.
  4. Should complete annual De-icing Training.
  5. Should receive training from the Operations Department for the following: Basic

Indoctrination, Emergency Training, Dangerous Goods, and Cockpit Resource

Management.

?  Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Coordinates with Maintenance Controller to resolve any maintenance discrepancies

and ensure that the aircraft are in an airworthy and safe condition.

  1. Performs maintenance and inspections on the aircraft away from the maintenance

base as required. A flight mechanic may also be assigned maintenance duties to

perform if the aircraft is at the maintenance base.

  1. Coordinates, through the Maintenance Controller, with the stores department to

determine date and location that parts or supplies will arrive.

  1. Coordinates with the Maintenance Controller to place deferred items on the

MEL/CDL.

  1. Coordinates with the Maintenance Controller for approval to place items on the

maintenance carryover list.

  1. May screen carry-on baggage for compliance with the Sky King program.
  2. May conduct fuel vendor training and de-icing/anti-icing training in accordance with

the Sky King program.

  1. May perform audits for the Quality Control Department when requested.
  2. Other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Maintenance.

10.Reviews daily the assigned maintenance worksheet and coordinate with

Maintenance Control to complete the assigned tasks.

  1. Coordinates with the Stores Department and Maintenance Control to ensure all

removed components are routed back to the Main Maintenance Base or wherever

the Stores Department determines.
